What is Moissanite?

Prepare yourself—this is just about the coolest fact ever.

Moissanite is an extremely rare, naturally occurring gemstone that comes from SPACE. It is created by meteorites that fall to earth.

Because of this, it is incredibly rare!

Scientists are able to recreate this naturally occurring mineral in a lab using silicon carbide. These lab grown wonders are the gorgeous real gemstones you see in our collection.

These moissanite gemstones are named after the French scientist who discovered them—Henri Moissan.

Moissanite gemstones mimic diamonds in that they are near colorless. They are a 9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale (what scientists use to evaluate the hardness of all minerals) with diamonds being a 10. Both stones are the most durable for daily wear—which is why they are perfect for engagement rings!

In addition to durability, moissanites surpass diamonds because they have more fire and brilliance. This means they have more sparkle!

We don’t know about you, but we love extra dazzle!

Our moissanite gemstones are hand selected for their individual outstanding qualities. Each stone is professionally reviewed and selected based on its qualities and what will look best in our custom designed settings. Because of this, every gemstone from STONE + SET will be as close to colorless as possible, highly reflective rated D-F grades, and cut to highlight its unique, natural qualities.

Our  STONE + SET collection can be viewed here. We are here to answer any of your questions.
